Mayfield, Kentucky
When life upends everything, we provide the shelter, resources, and steady guidance that make recovery possible — one family at a time.
What We Offer
Our programs are designed to meet women and children where they are — providing immediate safety, practical resources, and the tools needed to move forward with confidence.
A secure, compassionate environment for women and children fleeing crisis. Our facility provides a stable foundation when you need it most — with round-the-clock care and a judgment-free space.
Children deserve safety and stability above all. Our family-centered approach ensures young ones are cared for with age-appropriate support, educational assistance, and emotional healing.
Bridging the gap between crisis and independence. Our transitional programs offer longer-term housing support paired with life-skills training, financial literacy, and employment preparation.
Healing requires both mind and spirit. Licensed counselors and trained advocates offer individual and group therapy, trauma-informed care, and wellness programming for lasting emotional recovery.
Navigating the legal system can feel overwhelming. Our advocates help with protective orders, custody matters, and connecting with legal aid — ensuring your voice is heard and your rights protected.
No one rebuilds alone. We link residents with community resources — food assistance, healthcare, childcare, and mentorship — building a web of support that extends well beyond our doors.
Our Story
Lighthouse Women's & Children's Shelter was founded on a simple conviction: every woman and child deserves a safe place to begin again. Located at 500 W South Street in the heart of Mayfield, our shelter has served as a refuge for families facing domestic violence, homelessness, and crisis for over two decades.
What began as a small residential program has grown into a comprehensive support network — one that meets people with dignity, respects their individual journeys, and empowers them to build futures defined by strength rather than circumstance.
Our team of trained case managers, counselors, and community advocates works tirelessly to ensure that every person who walks through our doors receives not just shelter, but a genuine pathway toward self-sufficiency and lasting stability.
Our Impact
Every number represents a life changed, a family kept together, and a future made possible through the generosity of our community.
"When I arrived at Lighthouse, I had nothing but the clothes on my back and a deep fear for my children's safety. The staff didn't just give us a bed — they gave us a plan, a community, and the belief that we could rebuild. Today, we have our own home and a future we once thought impossible."
